What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional therapy is a holistic approach to food and lifestyle changes based on the idea that the body can restore optimal health when we balance and improve your Foundations.  Those Foundations include: blood sugar regulation, proper digestion, gut health, metabolism, nutrient dense foods that give your body the building blocks as well as vitamins and minerals it needs to turn back on, proper hydration and lifestyle changes that enhance it all. No matter what you have going on or why you may have found yourself here, we ALWAYS start with the Foundations. These are the pillars that help to restore balance so your body can do what it does best … heal you. Our bodies are amazing. They want to heal and have the blueprint to do so! Let me teach you how!

Bioindividuality is the name of the game…

As a Nutritional Therapist my goal is to help optimize your health and nutrition goals, through holistic nutrition and lifestyle support. Each person is different, and because of this, we take a bio-individualized approach to help you develop sustainable habits and lifestyle shifts, specific to you and your goals. Nutritional Therapy uses a food first approach, while also looking to restore balance to your overall system. This approach is built on six foundations:

Nutrient Dense Foods - The right mix of vitamins and minerals is at the heart of what makes our bodies run - efficiently or not so efficiently.  What we eat and how we prepare it matters.  We will deep dive into the foods that give you the most bang for your buck and will help you nourish and rebuild every cell of your body.

Optimizing Digestion and Gut Health - You are what you absorb, not necessarily what you eat.  Optimizing your digestion takes a North to South approach.  Do you have enough stomach acid to breakdown and absorb nutrition. How’s your gut health look?  Do you have symptom of leaky gut?  Are you pooping regularly?  What foods are right for someone who has gut health issues.  We will identify any stressors or nutritional deficiencies that need to be addressed to optimize your gut health.

Hormonal Balance - The thyroid and your hormones run the show - they control your mood, immune system, ability to think, sleep and your metabolism, so it is incredibly important to support this system.  We work together to optimize your hormones through education, food, and lifestyle changes.

Blood Sugar Regulation - This is so foundational because this goes hand in hand with your hormonal system and how you feel each day - it affects your sleep, cognition, mood, weight - just about everything.  We will learn how to build a proper plate with nutritious food to support your levels.

Vitamin and Mineral Balance - Minerals and vitamins are the messengers that run every single system in the body.  When we balance these - good things start to happen.  We will deep dive into where you may be lacking, and what foods and supplements could be helpful.

Cleaning Up Environmental Toxins - Not only do we need to optimize our body and our plates, but cleaning up as many chemicals and incorporating daily practices that will help your body to come back on is pivotal. We remove what’s causing the issues and replace them with less toxic versions.

Lifestyle + Mindset Changes - This is what ties it all in together. We work to optimize sleep and wake times that will improve circadian rhythm, when and how to exercise to to get you to your health goals but not over stress the system and we work on developing the right mindset to power this whole process.

The goal is to help you optimize your health and feel your best. This isn’t about restriction, but rather to gain the knowledge you need to make Nourishing choices in all areas of your life and Empower your future.
